Salad leaves in Camel CSA’s veg boxes
Posted on March 12th, 2022 No commentsSpring is on the way and our polytunnel-grown salad leaves are making enormous growth spurts.
Thank goodness also for purple sprouting broccoli at this time of year. It’s a real favourite among all of us. Our own broccoli is still recovering from the hammering it received from Storms Eunice and Franklin, so this week’s offering is is a mix of ours and from the Backway family at Trerair Farm, St Eval.
In all the veg boxes:-
*mixed salad leaves
*kale – curly or Cottagers
*parsnips

cauliflower (Restharrow Farm, Trebetherick)

CSA farms get together at regional gathering in Cornwall

Gourmet mushrooms in Camel CSA’s veg boxes
Posted on March 5th, 2022 No commentsWe get very creative with our veg boxes at the end of winter as we cast our net wider to source additional seasonal vegetables. For the first time in our veg shares we have gourmet organic mushrooms from Forest Fungi in Devon.
In all the veg boxes:-
*curly kale

*mixed mushrooms – Shiitake, Grey Oyster, King Oyster (Forest Fungi, Dawlish)

Storms disrupt our weekly veg box deliveries
Posted on February 19th, 2022 No commentsStorm Eunice seriously got in the way of this week’s veg picking, packing and delivery schedule. Fortunately we managed to harvest all the vegetables and pack the veg boxes on Thursday ahead of the storm. Big thanks to our growers and volunteer team. Deliveries were delayed till Saturday.

Frozen! Heavy frost creates winter wonderlamd
Posted on January 23rd, 2022 No commentsAll our vegetables – both indoors and out – were frozen into the ground on picking and packing day. That’s unusual for North Cornwall! So NO salad leaves in the veg boxes this week. Fortunately we’d got most of the harvesting done earlier.
