Lucky dip in Camel CSA’s weekly veg boxes
Posted on June 14th, 2020 No commentsThe unusual climate conditions in the UK during May have confused every living creature and plant – including our vegetables. Polytunnel crops have had to cope with the sunniest May on record (and one of the warmest) while outdoor crops have suffered from the severe lack of rain that followed the wettest February. Some of our vegetables have been held back, others have put on unexpected growth spurts.
It’s proving extremely challenging for our growers. So we have a lot of ‘lucky dips’ (either / or) in the weekly share-out to ensure zero waste. All we can say: we hope it adds excitement to veg box Friday!
What’s in all the boxes this week:
*peas or broad beans
*mixed salad leaves
*green onions or spring onions
*cabbage or calabrese (CSA / Mark Norman, Bodmin)
strawberries (Mitchell Fruit Garden)
tin of British red haricot beans (Hodmedod’s)
*new potatoes (Mark Norman, Bodmin)Standard boxes also have:-
*courgettes or cucumber or parsley
*carrots or beetroot or rainbow chard
*wet green garlic (Mark Norman)*= grown to organic principles.
Please wash all produce thoroughly
