It’s arrived! The shipping container we’re using as a secure equipment store at our relocation site at Treraven Farm is now in place. Over the next few weeks we’ll be planting green walls around the container to help it blend in with its natural surroundings.

Camel CSA growers Mark and Bridget have begun marking out our first two vegetable growing beds above Wadebridge at Treraven Farm owned by the Gaia Trust.
We’re practising the No-Dig Method of organic cultivation championed by Charles Dowding. A thick layer of mulch will be applied in a few months’ time once the rye grass has died out underneath the black plastic. Then we’ll plant up the surface compost with our first winter crops – kale, purple sprouting broccoli and swede.
Over the next 18 months we’re gradually relocating our polytunnels, growing beds, equipment store, solar panels and packing shed to the new site at Treraven.

We’re extremely grateful to Wadebridge town councillors who have generously agreed to grant us £500 from their voluntary community and social enterprise budget.
We’ll be using the money to help fund the cost of erecting the first polytunnel on our new veg growing site above Wadebridge at Treraven Farm. Weather permitting, we’ll be relocating the tunnel from our St Kew Highway site very soon. Our other polytunnels, growing beds, equipment store, solar panels and packing shed will follow over the next 18 months.

Sign up for a 4-week vegetable box trial from Camel CSA on CSA Day UK this Wednesday 1 March and we’ll give you a free pack of seeds and a LoveYourVeg cloth bag.
We’re proud to be one of the first CSAs in the UK; we set up at St Kew, near Wadebridge, back in 2008. We’re now part of a rapidly-growing national CSA network with more than 60 members.
A small weekly veg box (feeds 1-2) costs £28 for four weeks; a standard weekly veg box (feeds 2-4) costs £42. Delivery every Friday to home or work is £2, or just £1 to a collection point.
So why not give us a try and help us grow.

We’re holding our annual Apple Day to coincide with the CSA Network UK’s first-ever Open Day.
Community supported farms like ours all over Britain are opening their gates to visitors on Saturday 1 October.
Come to Camel CSA’s Apple Day and join in chopping, crushing and pressing the apples. Enjoy a free glass of delicious juice.
Take a tour of the growing beds and polytunnels and see what’s growing for our veg boxes. Admire our bumper crop of squashes.
There’ll be light refreshments, including soup. Try a slice of our homemade apple cake and some vegetable cake! Or bring your own lunch to enjoy in our picnic area.

We’ve switched to an electric van for our weekly vegetable box deliveries. It means we’re cutting the cost of food miles as well as CO2 emissions.
Camel CSA veg grower Mark Norman said: “It’s so clean. It doesn’t use any juice so it’s not chucking out exhaust emissions.
“It’s really convenient for deliveries when you’re stopping and starting all the time. You just press the button and go.”

We’ve made 100 jars this year. We like to minimise waste and make the most of seasonal vegetable gluts.
