Growers Mark and Jane are busy planting out hundreds of brassicas in new no dig beds on our relocation site at Treraven Farm above Wadebridge. We’re covering the crops with Enviromesh to protect them from birds and cabbage white butterflies.

The worst place to be this Friday was inside the polytunnels in the extreme heat! Volunteer Jane and grower Bridget nearly expired as they harvested the first of the French beans and the last of the indoor carrots.

The best place to be this Friday was in the polytunnels out of the torrential rain! Work placement University of Exeter Cornwall student Finn and grower Bridget kept warm and dry while picking broad beans.

A gargantuan effort’s gone into completing the first polytunnel at our relocation site at Treraven Farm, Wadebridge. Lead grower Mark Norman headed a large team of volunteers who got stuck in digging trenches, constructing the frame and securing the cover.
Grateful thanks to growers Mark N, Bridget and Ann plus volunteers Andy, Becky, Bob, Charlotte, Danny, Darren, Finn, Frank, Janet, Kiefer, Mark M, Mary, Nicky, Spencer, Stepper, Stewart and Trina for a brilliant team effort.
The tunnel’s now been planted up with tomatoes and aubergines, using the lasagna method of cultivation.

It’s arrived! The shipping container we’re using as a secure equipment store at our relocation site at Treraven Farm is now in place. Over the next few weeks we’ll be planting green walls around the container to help it blend in with its natural surroundings.
