What an amazing turnout for our annual Apple Day celebrations. It was a great family event with lots of happy, smiling faces.

The sun shone and everyone had such fun joining in apple scratting, juice pressing and a tour of our new orchard. Plus the Treraven Farm pigs enjoyed the leftovers!

Growers and volunteers enjoy a break before veg box deliveries begin

October 2, 2023

Crib time for our dedicated picking and packing team every Friday morning provides a very welcome break before we start delivering the veg boxes. It’s always at exactly 11am and this week we all had traditional Cornish saffron cake (from Barnecutt’s in Wadebridge of course!)

We’re getting to that point in the growing season in Cornwall when the summer crops like cucumbers, courgettes and runner beans are gradually coming to an end and we look forward to more brassicas and root vegetables in the boxes.

Meanwhile the tomatoes, peppers and aubergines keep on coming. As usual any surplus green tomatoes will be made into chutney to include in our bumper veg boxes over Christmas.

*tomatoes

*carrots
*green pepper
*onions
*radishes or *French beans or *cucumber or *courgettes

Vegetable cool store now up and running

August 20, 2023

We’re thrilled that our new insulated cool store is almost complete. The first bunches of elephant garlic bulbs have been hung up to cure until they’re ready to go in the veg boxes.

We’ll also be using the cool shed to store other crops like onions, beetroot, pumpkins, squash and apples until we need them.

Volunteers Nick and Stan constructed the insulated and predator-proof lean-to at the rear of our packing shed. They used timber and insulating materials financed by Wadebridge Renewable Energy Network (WREN) using money donated by local firm CleanEarth Energy. We’re extremely grateful to have friends and supporters like these.
