The leeks this week come from Mark Norman, one of our growing team, who has a one-acre plot on the edge of Bodmin. He grows quite a few varieties of vegetables exclusively for us while following identical agroecological and no-dig principles and practices. We have plenty of our own leeks at Treraven Farm that will go in the veg boxes later.

We had such fun and made vast quantities of apple juice for everyone to take home.
Our youngest volunteer Delfi helped harvest the last of the runner beans this week in a heavy Cornish mizzle. Fortunately the sun came out at veg box delivery time.

We’re growing melons in one of the polytunnels for the first time ever and some standard box members have one this week. They’re a traditional variety called ‘Blenheim Orange’ and the lucky people who’ve had an early taste say they’re unbelievably sweet and delicious.
Everyone has some cucamelons. These cute little members of the melon/gourd family are native to central America. They’re crispy, green and cucumber-like with a slightly sour lemony flavour.
We’re definitely going to grow melons again but we’re giving up on cucamelons as harvesting them is so fiddly and time-consuming!
